Question : What are the advantages of a sonic oral B electric toothbrush compared to a professional care toothbrush?
Is the sonic technology better for your gums? Does it really matter? Or do the high end electric toothbrushes pretty much deliver the same? I have bad receding gums, probably from adding too much pressure, so I need a good good toothbrush if I want to keep my teeth for a long time.
Answer:
I LOVE my sonicare toothbrush. It's the Cadillac of all toothbrushes, but that is my opinion.
As for brushing, you could use a toothbrush from the dollar store and be fine.... as long as you do it correctly (45 degree angle at the gumline) and for two minutes at a time, twice daily. Be gentle with your gums. :)
Oh, floss daily and get regular maint. appointments at your dental office. :)
have a wonderful day

Question : How do I use an electric toothbrush properly?
I just got an Electric Toothbrush for Christmas. I've used it a few times since but it just doesn't seem like I'm using it right. I brush for 2 minutes and brush thoroughly but when I look at my teeth afterwards it doesn't seem like it's working properly.

Question : Why do people use an electric toothbrush as they would use a manual toothbrush?
It just seems a bit pointless having an 'electric' toothbrush. Why don't they just use a 'toothbrush'???
Thanks for responses. I understand why electric toothbrushes are used (I use one myself and find they are great). What I am really wondering is why people use an electric toothbrush but still use the same arm movements as they would with a non-electric toothbrush...
Answer:
For the same reason, when you tell somebody that a microphone will pick up thier voice fine in a normal standing position.... they continue to lean over & put their face in it.

Question : How many of you feel a vibration under your nose while brushing with an electric toothbrush?
I'm doing some research on this topic to see if anyone has or knows what I'm talking about, being twitching sensation you feel around your nose when brushing your teeth with a electric toothbrush, mind you I know what causes it, I'm only seeing if there are people out there that experience this, and if it's consider a minor or more then minor inconvenience to you or not.
I'm interested to know, and this is purely for reseach.
Answer:
lol. I know what you are talking about. It doesn't happen all the time, but every once in awhile when I'm brushing my teeth and I have to end up rubbing my nose because it tickles.

Question : How do you clean the gunk from an electric toothbrush?
I hope you guys can help me with this since Philips (Sonicare maker) couldn't even properly answer this question. Almost every week, disgusting dark green colored film collects inside the electric toothbrush head. First of all, is this normal? is anyone else having this issue? I have to take a manual toothbrush to scrub out the film. Is this a common occurrence with electric toothbrushes, am I supposed to ignore this gross film and just change the head every 3-4 months? It's getting to be a hassle to have to clean out this film every week!
Answer:
THIS FILM IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE WITH THIS BRUSH. ONCE PER WEEK USE A PAPER TOWEL DAMPENED IN RUBBING ALCOHOL TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE CAP.
THIS MAINTENANCE MUST ALSO BE DONE FOR THE RUBBER CONNECTOR OF THE BRUSH HEAD.
REMEMBER TO REPLACE THE BRUSH HEAD EVERY THREE MONTHS.
I USE THE SONICARE ELITE MODEL.

Question : Can you use an electric toothbrush on a 1 year old?
The only electric tooth brushes I've seen for sale for kids start at 3 years old, so is it bad to use an electric tooth brush on a child younger then 3? My 1 year old loves my husbands electric toothbrush but i don't want her to use it as i'm worried it will do her harm.
Some people are getting the idea she doesn't like to have her teeth brushed with an electric toothbrush, she loves it thats the problem, she will stay perfectly still and have her teeth brushed with one but a normal toothbrush she isn't keen on.
Lazy? the tooth brush doesn't go in and clean your teeth while you stand there it's no the jetsons!!! LOL
Answer:
It is very likely that she's teething and the massaging effect of the toothbrush helps. Depending on her development, 1 yr is when she ought to be getting some of her first few teeth in (give or take some months). The toothbrush itself won't have any adverse effect on the gums. The age has more to do with the toothpaste - as mentioned earlier - your child doesn't need to be using flouridated toothpaste at this age. But she's not actually brushing her teeth, so don't worry about it.
Having said that (and this will sound stupid, but it is legitimate) make sure your husband is in good shape dentally speaking. Babies get the bacteria for decay from their parents, so whoever shares it will inevitably pass on bacteria to her. Its no big deal, but make sure your husband doesn't have any large, untreated cavities.

Question : Which kids electric toothbrush to use?
I am looking for a kids electric toothbrush for my 7 & 8 yr old girls and I'm not sure which one to buy. They tried one of the adult ones and didn't like it because it vibrated too much and made their nose itch from all the buzzing. I want them to do a more thorough job brushing and think an electric brush may help. Please recommend a kids brush that does not have a lot of vibrations.
Answer:
Oral B makes some very inexpensive battery powered brushes called Kids Stages starting at about $4. Your child may prefer a rotary brush head which is on the Oral B Advance Power Toothbrush for about $15. My own preference is the Sonicare Extreme e3000 which is about $25. You can get compact brush heads to fit all the Sonicare models and are preferred by children. All of these are battery operated which is why they are inexpensive.
Both companies have higher-end models with rechargeable batteries. Along with the higher prices are more functions and the ability to change the speeds so it doesn't vibrate as much. You will have to determine what your price point is for your children. Links to all are provided below.
