Amazon Brush Heads much better then Amden Corporation
The so called "free" Replacement Brush Heads that Amden Corporation wants to send you every 3 months shattered in my mouth cutting me to ribbons. Amden Corporation (maker of Cybersonic) claims they'll be happy to replace them but they never come. For some reason the replacements from Amazon hold together just great and cost half as much as the "free" exploding ones. Thank You Amazon!!!

Orab B 7400
I had an older Oral B electric toothbrush that died on me, so this was the replacement I got. It did take a little while to get used to (especially if you have sensitive teeth). However, I love the little buzz it gives off every 30 seconds for a total of 2 minutes. That way you know you brushing each quadrant properly. I also like that it gives you a signal if you are brushing too hard. Overall, a great product for the price. I originally found it at Target, but then I searched Amazon and found it for $16.99 cheaper (that included the shipping fee) and I didn't have to pay sales tax!

Customer Review :
Great device.
For a while I had been meaning to buy an electric toothbrush to try and remedy my tendency to brush too hard (worn gumlines and teeth... eek!) My last visit to the dentist made up my mind, and I bit the bullet (is that bad for gums?) and bought this toothbrush.
First time tickled a bit, after that I was already used to it. The 'adjustment period' is good. After I using the brush, I do have to say my teeth felt really clean, and I could swear whiter!
Although this seems to be the best brush on the market right now, I ultimately decided to get it because it was the most environmentally friendly one on the market due to it's battery type. For the same reason I did NOT get the UV head cleaner - the bulb has mercury. Plus, this is really stupid marketing ploy - are you daft enough to shell out for a UV bulb to save your life? ...don't do it! ;)
Another plus is, this brush can be used for any world voltage, which is great when I eventually return to my homeland of 240V@50Hz (where my old Oral B remains sadly deserted)
The quad pacer is mildly helpful, but a little weird that they decided to just turn the brush off at the end - quite often you're still doing something, brushing tooth surface, etc.
A more useful feature than the UV bulb would be if brush could tell you if you are brushing too hard, like Oral B. (I don't think any sonic-style toothbrush can do this yet)
The toothbrush is overall quiet, if it's not your mouth that it's in :) Since I share this with my partner, two full-sized heads would've been nice, but I guess having the two types is handy for many. This obviously won't sway your purchase decision though....
Overall, this brush is fabulous, and I'd definitely buy it again.

I never thought a toothbrush could ruin my life!
Wow, what an awful purchase. First of all, the motor on this thing is ridiculous. The toothpaste will not even stay on the brush! Literally I put the toothpaste on and I turn on the brush and the paste falls off in 2 seconds. Next, when I put the toothbrush to my mouth it tickes so much it is on the border of being painful. I dont know how anyone can use this brush on the inner part of their mouth. And as I brush, specs of water and paste go flying and my mirror has spots all over it. What a disaster this toothbrush is and I recommend everyoen spend $5 on a nice brush and not $100, which is ridiculous. Just floss and use mouthwash and a regular toothbrush.

Sonicare -- Good for your chicklets
Have been using the Sonicare RS 930 for a couple of months now and am very pleased. This thing really vibrates fast which gives you a "dentist cleaning" feel after brushing. I like the sanitizer feature for the brush heads too. I also find the Quadpacer feature helpful to make sure you brush all "four quadrants". I used to have a Cybersonic which vibrated faster than anything else on the market, but find this new Sonicare every bit as good if not better due to the sanitizer and many programming options available.

Philips SONICARE FlexCare R980 Electric Toothbrush
This is the absolute best electric toothbrush on the market. I've tried several over the years and the FlexCare R980 cleans better than both the SoniCare Elite and the Oral-B Triumph.
It is comfortable to use and it easily gets to those hard to reach places. My teeth have never been cleaner nor healthier.
It's so light and compact that I take it with me whenever I travel. I'd be lost without it.
If you're thinking about buying one, take it from me. The R980 is the best...hands down.
Happy brushing!

Would give it 5 stars BUT...
I can't. In fact, I debated about whether to give it three. In the end, I like more about it than I don't, so the three stars.
1) the cleaning features are nice - especially the new "Go" setting for a quicker (i.e. after meal) brush. They work as well as I would expect - which is to say my teeth feel "dentist clean" afterwards. 2) I love the UV cleaning feature. 3) I really like the new smaller head that comes with this model - great for getting the back teeth. 4) The way the heads attach to the handle is much improved over the old model. 5) It comes with a much smaller travel charger - finally!
Sadly there is a HUGE design flaw that is tough to forgive. The button you use to change from one cleaning speed to another is exactly where you grasp the handle of the toothbrush, and unlike the power button, is very easy to depress. This means you are brushing along in "clean" when all of a sudden you are in "gum massage" mode. Not sure how this got past the design team as it is not at all a subtle flaw - and I should mention that both my husband and I have this issue, so it is not a hand size or problem unique to my grip.
So, as long as you are willing to completely relearn how you hold your toothbrush this is a great brush....otherwise, stick with the classic Sonicare.

from beautiful Cape Cod
I have used Sonicare before with great satisfaction. This purchase was a replacement of the Advantage model. I like the narrowed handle of the Elite and the charge level indicator. I do not feel it cleans any differently or better than prior models, but they all do a great job so that is not a complaint. Great product.

Love it!
My dentist had been telling me to get this toothbrush for months, but I figured he had some alterior motive and so I ignored his suggestions. Later on my husband had mentioned how much he would like one and so for Christmas I purchased it for him. I love it! My teeth feel so clean every time I brush! I will never go back to a manual brush again. The first few times you use it, it's a bit rough and your gums hurt a bit, but after awhile you get used to it and it's amazing. My teeth feel clean and I love that it automatically stops after two minutes. (Because in my own experience of trying to guesstimate two minutes, I usually end up at least a minute short.) It warns you when the battery is getting low and comes with a charger that's small and easy to hide. Which is great for us because we have little to no counter space in our bathroom. If I had to make one complaint, it is a bit noisy, but nothing to worry too much over. I'm buying everyone in my family one of these for Christmas!

Sonicare Essence 5300
This item was received quickly and in pefect condition. I am very pleased with this tooth brush. It has already helped to remove some stains on my teeth and makes my teeth feel more clean after brushing. My Dentist commented that this type of tooth brush is a great choice and with upwards of $10,000.00 of dental work I will do anything to help the health of my teeth. Yes some moisture will go under the brush head but cleaning is already mentioned in the owners manual and as long as you follow these simple instructions the tooth brush should last. This moisture will not effect the battery since it is held in a seperate sealed compartment. This toothbrush is not like the cheaper battery powered type it is like the more expensive models. It uses the same brush head attachment as the higher end models which produces the same brushing action for less dollars. Not as many bells and whistles keeps the cost of this unit down. Thanks Philips and Amazon.

Sonic
This was replace the two sonic cares that died. I don't understand why sonic care doesn't use/offer an universal brush replacement heads for their systems. Needless to say, I had a few left over from the previous systems. Sonic care is a must for a healthy mouth. This version doesn't offer the 30 second beep or each quandran like my previous. Bummer. I guess you're gonna have to P A Y extra for that feature.

Questions & Answers
Question : Which career is better: Dental Hygiene or Radiologic Technology?
I am thinking about applying to either a Dental Hygiene program or a Radiologic Technology program. Which one should I choose?
Answer:
Nurses don't do the jobs of the technologists or even know how to so I don't know what the hell your friend is smoking, hope. It is illegal and unethical and as far as I know someone needs to apply radiation protection and it is far beyond than just giving a shield to someone and giving diagnostic films as well. Ha, a nurse doing my job, yeah that's real funny. Both fields are good but every field has ups and downs. If you go to radiologic technology, there are more opportunities though to be honest than a DH unless you want to go to dental school to become a dentist. A dental hygienist can get paid more per hour than a RT, but the hours are limited depending on the dentist who is your employer and a lot of them are well not the best bosses in the world. I am lucky I have a great boss and I love what I do. Honestly, the pay is about the same give or take if you add up everything. The demand is about the same, so you really have to really dig deep and find a FT time with benefits but its harder to get benefits when you are a DH unless if you are in CA or NY. It's really up to you. If you are in it for the money, go for DH and have two part time jobs and hopefully find a dentist who is willing to give you FT hours and benefits. RT is also stressful and can make a decent living and you can always get out of x ray and cross train to specialize in CT, and MRI or both and other things as well.

Question : How long is the wait list for Dental Hygiene in CA?
Preferably, I'd like to know if you currently applied to Dental Hygiene school in California and how long your wait is projected to be.
If not currently or not CA, please answer anyway, I'd like to know an average.
Any recommendations from graduates and newcomers? I'm barely starting to get my classes completed for my Associates so I can apply next year, any advice is more than appreciated! (Like when to start applying, things to know, etc)
Thank you in advanced!!!
Answer:
It would not be an issue of a waiting list but whether or not you would be accepted (high competition -- focused on applicant's GPA.). Best wishes.

Question : Is it difficult to be accepted into a dental hygiene program at a community college?
I am planning to enroll in a dental assisting program in January. It is a 15 week program after which i will become certified. After i am certified and working as a dental assistant, how difficult is is to get accepted to a dental hygienist program at a community college? Any info you can give me about this field would be very helpful! Thank you so much.
Answer:
Dental hygiene programs are very selective in their admissions. You will need to have excellent grades in your college courses. Don't despair. I've had two da's go on to hygiene school. They took college courses at night at the local community college. Good luck in your career!

Question : Is Dental Assistaning a more popular career than Dental Hygiene?
Because...I see commercials about becoming dental assistants all day, everyday but i don't ever see any about dental hygienist.I also can't find any 2 yr or community colleges that offer dental hygiene in TN.How can it be a growing career if its so hard to find a school to go to for it?
I'd really hope to be a dental hygienist, but I just don't know about it anymore. It seems too difficult to get into.
Answer:
Dental assisting is a great career field and it is certainly growing. An entry level dental assistant can make around $10-$15 per hour without experience and has the potential to earn $30-$35 per hour with several years of experience and additional certifications (radiology, coronal polishing, pit and fissure sealants, etc.) You probably don't see a lot of commercials for dental hygeine because most programs are competitive and so they don't necessarily need to advertise to attract students, they already have more apply than they have space for. Dental hygeine has also become a field that is in demand most start of making around $45,000 - $50,000 per year and will make $65,000 after a few years of experience. Dental hygeine requires at least a 2 year associates degree and several licensure exams to practice in a particular state.

Question : Is it possible to work while in dental hygiene school?
I just finished dental assisting school and will start working soon. I want to go to dental hygiene school at some point when I can afford it. I heard from multiple people that it's extremely difficult to work while in DH school, and now I'm worried because that is my only option. Any advice??
Answer:
Sure you could find some time to work as a DA. Evening or Saturday. DH programs are challenging, but with good time management, you could do it and still do well in DH school.

Question : can i become a dentist after doing dental hygiene?
I have done Diploma in Dental Hygiene, can I study further to become a dentist in Canada? I want to know my options.
Answer:
Yes but you need to train to become a qualified dentist.
|
Question : What can a future dental hygiene student do to increase chances of employment after graduation?
Say I am applying for a job in a dental office...what would make one candidate stand out from another, especially if you don't have much experience yet? Additional certifications perhaps?
Although there will be plenty of jobs available for dental hygienists, I would like to obtain any skills or training that would help me get a position in my top choices of dental offices. Any advice?
Thanks : )
Answer:
Often community service stands out for some employers. But honestly, depending on your location, it's the luck of the draw.
If hygienists are plentiful and doctors can "take their pick" vs if there are few hygienists and many local openings is more indicative of how you will obtain your first position. Once you get to know the community and the dentists you will figure out who you would want to work for. Networking with your fellow local hygienists and keeping up with the changes in other offices will help you find ideal employment
Unfortunately many offices are not so excited about keeping up with the "hygiene technology", unless you get into a perio office, which would be a great opportunity right out of school.
good luck
