dentist recommendation
I purchased this toothbrush at the recommendation of my dentist. My teeth and mouth feel great and I've had better dental visits since using this. It is not the easiest to clean, but I still think its worth it.

Questions & Answers
Question : Sonicare Toothbrush????
I am currently using an Oral-B Vitality Sonic toothbrush that i bought for 20 bucks at Target. Is this good enough for periodontal gum recession or would a sonicare toothbrush be better? If so, which Sonicare toothbrush (there are many)? Also, how would it be better?
this is a link to my current toothbrush
http://www.oralbprofessional.com/us/products/power/powvitalitysonic.asp
Answer:
I prefer the Oral-B Triumph over the Sonicare. It just works better for me. The Vitality is good as long as you brush often enough. And with periodontal issues you must must must floss at least once a day.

Question : Could a battery powered toothbrush start a fire?
If it was left on when you left the house to drain the battery...is there a possibility it could spark or something and start a fire??
The insert that came with the toothbrush says to drain the batter once a month and recharge from scratch to keep it working better. I have no idea how that helps, but thanks for the help! My mind is now more at ease! I get paranoid about these things!! :-)
Answer:
No. The maximum energy output by the battery (usually AA's)
could not generate enough heat to even start melting the plastic handle. I have never seen or heard of one being able to spark. You'd need a lot more electricity to do that.

Question : Is there any different between Battery Power Toothbrush and Plug-in Power Toothbrush?
I had plug-in power tooth brush but it got re-charged too much or something and it broke after using 1 year even though I paid over $100 for it. So, I am thinking to get the one you put batteries in it, do you think it doesn't work as good as plug-in one since they are very cheap? Thanks.
I mean *is there any differences*
Answer:
No difference between the 2 in terms of cleaning your teeth. They both get the job done. I used to have a plug-in brush, dunno what happened to it though. Now have a battery operated one, and it works just as well! Just have to replace the battery from time to time, and the brush head every 3 months or when necessary.

Question : How to use an electric toothbrush?
I just bought an Oral B Cross Action Power brush and was wondering if I just held the toothbrush on each tooth and let it spin or if I use a back and forth brushing motion like I would with a manual brush while the electrical brush head spins on the teeth.
Answer:
The great thing with an electric toothbrush is it does most of the work for you! Just hold the bristles of the brush against one tooth at a time, angle the bristles slightly so they are at about a 45 degree angle towards the gums and let the movements do the work. Spend a few seconds on each tooth and work your way around your mouth. Use light pressure so you dont cause trauma to your gums and dont forget to floss!

Question : Toothbrush for Braces??
I'm getting braces in about a week, I had the spacers put in yesterday. Will a battery powered toothbrush make it easier to brush my teeth? will it damage the brackets? what would you suggest?
Answer:
Hi! I'm a dentist & practicing Orthodentist as well. With regards with your problem on toothbrushes, I would suggest to try to talk to your dentist about it. Cause in my case, as an Ortho, I'm providing a toothbrushes for my patients with braces. It's a special toothbrushes that has a curve area in the middle of the toothbrush so as to fill up the spaces that your braces will occupy when you will be brushing. I see to it that I also provide a interdental brushes too to my patients to make it easier for them to maintain good oral health.
I guess when you'll be asking your ortho he will provide you more info about it just the way I'm providing infos & as well as toothbrushes & interdental brushes for my ortho patients too..
By the way Oral B & Colgate has also braces toothbrushes that's available in the drugstores or markets too..
Though battery operated brushes can help you maintained a good health, It's still important to have a specific tool for a specific instances..
Hope this can help you alot..

Question : Questions about Oral-B power toothbrushes?
Well, I don't know if the brushes are designed in a standard for all Oral-B handles or there are different brushes for different handles.
http://www.theessentials.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1002&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C3%2C115%2C312%2C319&iProductID=1002
and is that brush provided with a charger or do we have to purchase a seperate one ?
Thanks a lot
Answer:
If you check around on the Oral B website, you will see that there are different heads for different electric toothbrush models. Most of the companies that make electric toothbrushes do that. I guess it creates built in obsolescence of your product in the name of progress.

Question : I bought my hubby a sonicare elite model electric toothbrush for christmas?
he always used manual so he was kind of taken aback at the power of the brush. I caught him sneaking back and using the manual one. He only uses the electric one after keeping it off the charger so that some of the power is rundown. It cost a decent penny, how can i get him to use it exclusively?
Answer:
If he doesn't like using it, I wouldn't make him ... The same thing happened to me actually. My fiancee bought me one (because I wanted it!) but I ended up not liking it. It just wasn't for me, and I switched back to a manual.
As for the Sonicare, my sweetie uses it exclusively and it has worked out perfect for the both of us :)
