better hope it never goes wrong!

I purchased 3 of these toothbrushes for my family in June 2006. The toothbrush does a very thorough cleaning and leaves your mouth with a 'fresh-from-the-dentist' feel. Also the two minute timer is very useful for children as a way to encourage longer brushing. Dentist commented at 6 month check up that our teeth all looked well cared for! BUT one toothbrush simply stopped working in Jan 2007 - this was certainly annoying for a product only in use for 7 months but it was still under guarantee so I packaged it off to a service centre per Braun 1-800 number instructions. Never heard anything for weeks and finally called the service centre. They had been unable to repair - (thanks for the follow up call, not!) - and had advised Braun. Called Braun and they said they would send out a replacement shortly. Well, this became the longest journey from NJ warehouse to my DC address ever! Took 3 months and 5 phone calls on my part. On one occasion, I explained to customer service people that I was still waiting for the toothbrush. I had followed the Federal Express tracking number but Federal Express had been unable to deliver as the address was incomplete. They had returned the toothbrush to Braun. The Braun customer service agent asked me curtly "why do you blame Braun for that?" Not once in any of the 5 phone calls to Braun did anyone offer an apology for the situation and the ridiculously long amount of time I was without a toothbrush. Customer service - zero stars. toothbrush - 4 stars. I went down the middle and awarded it 2 stars/.

Brush head like a real toothbrush

I love the Sonic Complete, especially because I'm one of those people who need a brush with a head on it like a real toothbrush...not a small round one. This brush does the job, removing plaque effectively. I'm a dental hygienist, and have used the Sonicare (which stopped working), and the other Oral B Braun round head brushes. I prefer the Sonic Complete.

Like a charm...

Works like a charm. Nice clean teeth and mouth. The slight pause to let you know to change areas is no bother at all, its more of a pulse than a pause. I will buy another when needed. Try it out!!

Nice Toothbrush

I bought this to replace a worn out (dead battery) Oral-B 3d electric toothbrush. The Sonic seems much easier on my gums, and seems to be an effective cleaner. I'm not thrilled with the 30 sec timer (it stutters), but perhaps it's forcing me to brush longer. The sonic action really seems to get the toothpaste into all the nooks and crannies, but also (unfortunately) onto my shirt. You really have to make a conscious effort to keep your mouth closed, and even then toothpaste will inevitably leak out. I think the sonic action liquefies the paste much more than manual brushing. A great toothbrush overall.

Questions & Answers
Question : What is a toothbrush for in rock climbing?
When u buy a chalk bag, they sometimes come with a toothbrush. Why do u need a toothbrush? To clean the bag? Help!

Answer:
to clean the chalk off the rocks, sometimes there might be too much on the rocks before you start climbing from a previous climber.

Question : How do you brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush without applying pressure?
I love my electric toothbrush but I'm having a hard time holding it to my teeth without applying at least some pressure. I have a small mouth so I don't know if that's adding to my problem. I would love some suggestions or advice. My gums are very sore.

Answer:
Hold the toothbrush in your fingertips, put it into your mouth in the cheek area then close your mouth a bit and brush. Don't tighten your cheek muscles or purse your lips, keep everything relaxed. With the electric toothbrush you use it to guide the bristles around your teeth and gums rather than using it like a manual toothbrush as there is no need to activate it to be effective. http://en-ca.dentalcare.com/soap/patient/index.htm This link has detailed information on Power Brushing including a video that is very useful. If your gums are very sensitive initially try using some Orajel (babys teething gel) on them prior to brushing. This should numb them up a bit. Also if you have an Oral B power brush there is also an "Extra Soft" brushhead available from the drug store.

Question : What brand of electric toothbrush do you recommend?
My current electric toothbrush has died and I need to buy a new one. I am open to suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Answer:
Braun.

Question : Why did my toothbrush start to smell bad?
I keep a toothbrush at work in a plastic ziplock bag in a drawer in my desk. I just started doing this a month ago because I decided I like to brush my teeth after lunch. Today I opened my toothbrush bag and the toothbrush smelled terrible! Why did this happen? How come this doesn't happen to my toothbrush at home? What can I do to prevent this from happening in the future? I don't want to have to replace my work toothbrush every few weeks - that would get expensive.

Answer:
get a travel holder for the toothbrush, they need to be able to dry out between uses or bacteria grows and it smells horrendous. A travel holder has holes in it to allow air to move thru, while a baggy will simply keep moisture in.

Question : What do the numbers on the top of the Crest toothbrush packages represent?
On the top of the toothbrush package, there is a number (ex: 35, 93, 40). What IS that?

Answer:
I have always wondered that.... I hope someone knows the answer to that.

Question : How do you get the Toothbrush Off the Sonicare to change it ?
I unscrewed the toothbrush but the brush is not attached anywhere that I could see. Do tou pull it out of the top . The motor is in the screwed partand then nothing is in the bottom part which leaves the brush on top and it wont come out.

Answer:
Haha, I think you're doing what I used to do all the time. What you unscrewed is supposed to be attached the the brush head. I always unscrewed it and the brush would sometimes get left behind in the body. If you can, try and just twist the brush off. I hope that helps somewhat. If not, I apologize.

Question : Can you ruin the battery by soaking your electric toothbrush in bleach?
I soaked by electric toothbrush in straight bleach not to long ago and it was fine for awhile, but now doesn't seem to want to charge. Could the bleach have ruined the battery?

Answer:
SOAKING ANYTHING ELECTRONIC IN ANY LIQUID, ESPECIALLY BLEACH WILL RUIN IT. TIME TO BUY ANOTHER AND FOLLOW THE MAKERS INSTRUCTIONS.

Question : How often should you get a new toothbrush?
My friends mom told me that I am crazy for using a toothbrush for two weeks then throwing it away. Is it bad to do this? I just find toothbrushes gross after using it for more than a week to be honest. But, I stretch it to two just because. So, is it alright to get a new one as often as I do?

Answer:
Every 3-6 months, after an illness (flu, cold, ect...) or if the bristles are splayed/worn down. Here is the thing about toothbrushes, if you are using the kind with nylon bristles (which most ppl. do) you don't have to worry too much about bacteria. Nylon bristles do not absorb water, so it is not an ideal place for bacteria to live. If you use a natural toothbrush, then you should probably worry, because most natural toothbrushes are made from Boar's hair, which do infact absorb water and are a breeding ground for bacteria. One of my dental hygiene instructors recommends having two toothbrushes, one for the morning and one for the evening. She said you should allow your toothbrush to completely dry before you use it again. And yes, it is completely fine getting a new toothbrush as often as you do! Some people are just germaphobes! Make sure you are buying a nylon soft bristled toothbrush, though.

Question : What type of toothbrush do you think works best?
My daughter is participating in a Innovation and Invention Fair and wants to innovate a toothbrush. She and her partner want to know toothbrush others prefer and why. They are looking to create a toothbrush that is better at removing plaque-causing bacteria. Thanks for your answers!

Answer:
I love the Crest Spin Brush Pro! It is wonderful at removing plaque. It is also very cheap and easy to replace! I am 49 years old and have used this toothbrush since it came out! My teeth are still good and I always get good dental checkups.I have never lost a tooth for any reason. The dentist says it is a good toothbrush! I have tried electric toothbrushes, but this one is battery operated and it so easy to replace the head.It also does a stellar job of getting my teeth very clean. I love it because once it wears out, I just get a new one!

Question : Is it ok to use a strong electric toothbrush after wisdom tooth removal?
I have a pretty strong electric toothbrush (it's Oral-B Professional Care Triumph). Is it too strong to use after wisdom teeth removal?

Answer:
Stay away from the extraction site for about 5-7 days with any kind of instrument. You could tear the stitches and/or knock out the blood clot which could lead to dry socket which is very very painful. Also avoid carbonated drinks, swishing liquid in your mouth, mouthwash, smoking, and sucking on straws. You can rinse very gently with warm water.
