Customer Review :

Too Weak

This piece is compact and convenient where power outlet is not available. Running with 3 AAA batteries, the stream is too weak to do the cleaning. Not recommend for buying.

Great for the Road Warrior - avoid for consistent use

For those of you traveling, this may be the ideal mate

however --- the wash basin is WAY TOO small....... you'll be refilling this thing constantly - which could basically interrupt most teeth cleaning sessions

also - the price can't be beat

however...... if you're serious about teeth cleaning, i recommend a real Water Pick, even for traveling

Rating :

Great for travel

This water pick is not very powerful. The water stream is weak. However, it does work and it is very small, so if you are going to travel, this is the best water pick because it runs on 3 AA batteries. You can not take an ac device with you to Europe, Africa, Russia, or Asia because the outlets are different! So I have to give this product a 5 for travel but a 1 for home use (3 overall).

Rating :

Use for travel - get corded version for home

My dental hygenist told me to "get the cheapest water pick you can get" to improve my gum health. After a month of using this product, my gums were significantly healthier than I can ever recall being measured.

The drawback is that this thing chews through batteries like a short circuit! The pressure drops as the batteries age - one set is good for a week or perhaps two, depending on how strong you want the pressure to be (it's not really adjustable). The rechargeables that I tried simply did not put out enough current to be useful, even at full charge.

Additional drawbacks: first, the basin is too small for a full cleaning. I simply place it under the tap, with the tap running slowly, so I have no real issues here. Second, the tips pop off of the wand if you block the water flow by pressing directly against gum tissue. To compensate, you need to keep your thumb or forefinger on the tip to keep it attached to the wand.

All-in-all, if you do not have a water-based unit such as this and you want to give it a shot, it's a cheap and easy way to try one out. I'll be getting an outlet-powered version for home use, but this will continue to be my travel unit.

Questions & Answers
Question : Where can i find low cost dental care?
Right now I cannot afford dental care & need it desperately. How do I find someone to help me? There's got to be somebody out there that will help people who need it badly. Any suggestions?? Barbie, I'm from West Tennessee.

Answer:
Schools of dentistry at major universities usually have clinics, although the waiting lists can be terribly long as people need dental work and it is so expensive. If I were you I would go ahead and make an appointment with a dentist you have heard good things about in your area, and go for a consultation...(consultation should be free.) Explain the situation to the dentist...that you want to get your teeth fixed, low on money, want to work out a plan of action....and so on...and the dentist can give you a plan for your mouth that has prices on it. You save up the money for each part and then go have that part done. In the meanwhile, really look for some dental insurance, which is usually pretty cheap, like under 15 dollars a month, and even though there may be a waiting period before you can use it, it will help in the long run. The dentist at your consultation can give you some ideas of what plans you can look into for that. I feel for you, and good luck in this endeavor...Best of luck-- Jennifer

Question : where can i get free or cheap dental care in New Jersey?
I already checked with my school...they do not cover dental with student health plan. I am in the northern new jersey/nyc area.

Answer:
Good luck! I live in Ohio and I don't think cheap dental care exists, the costs are out of this world! I need major work done, but it's like taking out a second loan! Here in Ohio, in Columbus OSU dental college. It's student but performing procedures with real dental surgeons by theyr'e side. Cheapest place around but it's first come, first serve, have to be there very early and for me it's to much of a drive. Maybe you could look into some kind of state dental college denistry like they have here though. Much cheaper. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Question : I need advice on dental care.My job offers 3 types of bene.the one with most coverage is least expensive why?
Cigna requires a hmo primary dentist but it covers 100% on most care. Is having a dental primary care provider really that big of a deal. I need alot of work.

Answer:
Having a dental PCP is not a big deal, as there are many dentists looking for patients in need of work.

Question : Where can a person get free or very low dental care in Alabama?
Why is there lack of services offered to alabamaians when it comes to health? where in alabama can a person go for donated dental services, an other health related services for the poor?

Answer:
You could go to a dental school where they practice on patients with an overseeing dentist for low cost, but each session is like 3 hours long! ( I tried it a few times!) Or you can get a discount medical card (like I did!) The company is AmeriPlan USA and they have 4 different plans for people who can't afford normal insurance coverage. It covers all on-going medical and dental problems, with no physicals or paperwork to fill out. If this is something you are considering, I can tell you how it personally works for me.. and you can contact some of the dentists and doctors in your area to see the savings you could recieve with Ameriplan. At the website you can click on the contact section.. and it gives my phone #. I'm central time, so I only ask that you don't call after 9. p.m. Thank you!

Question : Dental care?
I am 60 and take care of my grandsons, so I have little money to use towards dental care. I need a root canal and crown badly on a tooth that shows when I smile. It looks black because I broke part of it off. Do not tell me to get dental insurance as they do not work for 1 yr. Is there a place someone like me can go to get cheaper dental work?

Answer:
One option available to you is to go to a dental school. They will perform the procedure on you at little cost to you due to them needing you as a patient to test/qualify a particular student (DDS). No idea where you live. So you're going to have to find a dental school on your own. Most large universities have dental schools.

Question : Where can I get free dental care in the Metro Detroit area?
I need extreme dental work, probably dentures, and I don't have dental insurance. My teeth hurt and I can't eat anything without alot of pain.

Answer:
Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients. Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale. Your local United Way may also be aware of such a clinic. In some areas, you can reach them now by dialing 2-1-1 for "non-emergency information." Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs. Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you. Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you. Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

Question : Where can I find inexpensive dental care in the Killeen, Texas area? Need work done, have very little money.?
I have no dental insurance, need to have some teeth pulled, including wisdom teeth. Hoping there is a Dental school nearby that offers free/low cost care.

Answer:
Call up a dentist and ask if he knows of a low cost or sliding scale clinic in the area. Sometimes dentists will donate work to low income people and there might be a free dental clinic that you can go to. If the first dentist doesn't know then try another one.

Question : Why doesn't Canada use surplus to start a national dental care plan?
Canada had a huge surplus in money this year, why doesn't it start a new dental care plan so that everyone can have dental coverage without having to pay ass loads of money themselves or to insurance companies? It's stupid because so many sicknesses and diseases are linked to dental hygiene and maintenance, why wouldn't they implement dental care as a preventative sickness measure to help us Canadians maintain good health? This outrages me so much.

Answer:
I guess it depends on what their other priorities are...

Question : How much is dental care in the US generally?
I'm needing to get some dental work done and live in Aus, but I'm travelling back to my hometown in Michigan in a couple of months. I'm just trying to work out if it would be cheaper to do it there. Has anyone had a root canal therapy and crown done recently, or could anyone direct me to a place where I could find a general idea of prices? I know I'd have to speak to the dentist once I get there to know for sure, but it would help to have a general idea. (If it's generally about the same cost, then I'll just enjoy my holiday and get it done once I get home!) Depending on what is found in the tooth, I could be looking at a root canal and crown or an extraction and implant. Thanks!

Answer:
I'm a dentist in Texas. Root canals generally run from $700 to 1000, crowns $800-1200. Implants are about $2500-3500(not including the crown that will need to be placed on the implant)

Question : Is there a thing as free dental care?
I need to go see a dentist bad, with no health insurance, little money, is there a thing as free dental care? I live in california

Answer:
find a local university or community college that has a dental program. they offer cleanings and some minor repairs. problem is it will take longer, and they are still learning so screw-ups are possible. I would also suggest calling all dentists in your area. some of them will allow you to make monthly payments. I had to get 2 pulled a while back- no insurance, i make too much money for gov't assistance, but a $300 dental bill would have killed me and my kids. I found a really great dentist who let me pay him $10/month. It was really quite amazing. I also remember, from back when i was little that my church had a free dental day, where a couple of the dentists who attended would get together to help members in need. You may try that route as well. good luck to you.
