Editorial Review :

Recommended by dental professionals, the family oral irrigator effectively fights gingivitis by cleaning where brushing and flossing can't reach. Pulsating jets of water - 1,200 per minute - reach and deep clean between teeth and under the gum line to reduce harmful bacteria. Can be used with water, mouthwash or any anti-bacterial rinse, and is safe for use with braces, crowns or bridgework. There's a button to control pressure, increasing or decreasing depending on the person, and a button to pause water flow. Comes with four color-coded jet tips so each person knows which one is his or hers, perfect for the entire family. Also included is a tongue cleaner to freshen breath.

Poorly made

I bought this product last year and used it a few times and put it away. I just took it out a few days ago to use it for the 5th time and it sprung a leak on the handle and water gushes out all over the place. Just like the other comments/reviews say here....

It did work pretty well as for getting in between the teeth but breaking after only a few uses isn't really worth it.

I'm going to buy the 100 watt one and try it out since there is a Nov 2008 coupon for 10 [...] off. Lets see if this one can last 10 uses....

Plastic supply hose is junk! (and they know it...)

I have owned several WaterPiks over the years and the biggest problem is the junky plastic supply hose that gets brittle over time. Once it gets brittle there is no fixing it, as cutting off a little piece on the end and reattaching it to the handle only works for maybe one or two more uses, then it starts leaking and you have to do it again. After you do this about a dozen times you are ready to scream! So I bought the replacement hose on-line (about $15 with shipping for a 50 cent part!!!) and opened up the unit (have to use a couple small screwdrivers to pry open the tabs on the bottom, but pretty easy). But when I tried attaching the new hose to the little plastic nipple on the pump that it attaches to, the nipple broke. Poor, cheap design...the nipple should be made of metal!!! So now the unit is toast. Not worth trying to get a new pump for it.

I firmly believe that WaterPik could easily provide their units with a higher quality plastic supply line that doesn't get brittle after just a few years use, but they won't do that because they want you to buy a new one. And they don't want you to try fixing it either.

Note -- I did try finding some other hose that would work. The closest I came is some rubber windshield washer hose (avaiable at auto parts stores, cheap) that is 3/32" ID and 5/32" OD. But the problem with the rubber hose it that it restricts the flow of water...the flow is not nearly as powerful as the plastic tubing. And I couldn't find any plastic hose of that size at Home Depot, Lowes, hardware stores, etc. So you are stuck having to order the WaterPik replacement hose at top dollar.
If you do, be VERY careful attaching it to the pump!

Badly engineered with inferior materials

When my family first bought a Water Pik irrigation appliance back in the sixties, it was a very well crafted piece of equipment. It lasted for years and years.

I bought one of these WP-70s and noticed off the bat the dramatic change in quality from the original product. Flimsier, lighter, and noisier.

But considering that I used it only once or twice a week, it didn't take long for the product to fail. In about a year, the hose sprung a small leak. And because of the pressure in the hose, the leak created a tiny stream that sprayed all over the bathroom .

Within days, the leak increased, and then became a crack, and then simply broke into two separate pieces. Now the machine - with total flight hours of, what?, maybe a few hours worth of use?, the product is kaput.

It's been sitting on the counter taking up space while I search for replacement parts, but the hose seems integral to the handle, and I haven't been able to find a replacement hose for this model.

My advice, based on my experience is to steer clear of this one.

While I think the product concept is a good one, and it really provides a superior oral cleaning, it's a piece of junque that reeks of manufacturing corner cutting.

And environmentally, the idea of building this half way around the planet and shipping it to the US only to drop it into already overburdened landfills seems somewhat absurd.

Waterpik WP-70W Family jet

We Love it. Way better than flossing and our teeth feel really clean as well. My son loves the tongue cleaner, I can't wait to do the in/out at the dentists office on teeth cleaning day. Be sure to read the instructions on how to use prior to using or you will have a mess on the counter and mirror! A bit noisy until you feel the benefits.

Get the ShowerBreezeTM! This ingenious device flushes out loosely attached plaque and food particles trapped between teeth and under the gum line, where brushing and flossing can not reach. Attach the ShowerBreezeTM to any shower head for easy accessibility and IMMEDIATE RESULTS. The unit has a volume control from complete off to compete on and everything in between. Valve is constructed of chrome plated brass.

Customer Review :

Get it now -- your gums will thank you

The ShowerBreeze is fantastic. It takes up very little space; it uses no electricity; it cleans the heck out of your teeth and gums; and it's so convenient that I use it every time that I shower.

The ShowerBreeze has become an important part of my regime (which also includes regular flossing, using interdental brushes, and using an Oral-B electric toothbrush). Even if you already take good care of your teeth and gums, you'll notice a benefit from the ShowerBreeze.

I should mention three things: First, if you have good water pressure, be very careful using this -- it produces such a concentrated jet of water that you might hurt yourself if you're not careful. Second, the wall mount for the tips is a little flimsy and is not what is shown in the product picture, but it's good enough. Third, make sure that it is fully installed and turned OFF when you first turn your shower on after installing it (otherwise you'll spray water all over your bathroom, as I did). Installation is easy.

Better than expected

When I ordered this product, I really wasn't sure if it would help keep my teeth cleaner or not. The proof is my trip to the dentist, no cavities and my gums are in great shape! I was pleased, using this every day has saved me a lot of money. In the past I need fillings every year, which added up to a lot of money. Another advantage to having it in the shower, I put it on high pressure and it gets the extra shampoo out of my hair. This is a simple but fantastic product.

ShowerBreeze w/ 3' hose Oral Irrigator

I never give any product a perfect score so 4 stars is great from me. Having the pic in the tub saves messing up the bathroom and bowl. I have found it easy to regulate pressure - water temp is a harder since i don't want to freeze in the winter.

Handy product

This product once installed is always handy and ready to use. This is a great advantage after owning several counter type products. This one is alway there, brush your teeth in the shower and use the oral breeze to rinse, clean your gums and teeth. The only small disadvantage is you have to adjust the pressure each time.

great product

this is a great product and i have nothing but raves about it. My wife and i both use it up to three times a day. And for all those who it doesn't have enough pressure-what kind of gums do you have. If we turn it up to three it hurts our gum. It works very well and i'm not trying to sand blast my mouth. The only drawback is the small cup size- i believe it only hold s about 10-12 ozs. needs to have a bigger resevoir. Other than that this is a great product. I'm to going to buy a couple more for our sons to use at their homes.

Conair WJ7B Interplak Jet

This is the third one I've owned. They don't last more than around 3 years due to the pump wearing out. If they only make the pump parts more robust, it could last much longer. Ultimately the motor turns but the plastic pump doesn't pump. I don't know if other brands that pump so hard will wear out slower, but I've stuck with Conair. The nice part is that the water container holds enough for two thorough cleaning. The extra tools are not useful. One caution: DO NOT PUT MOUTHWASH IN THE TANK!

Its Breeze n Store design means you can breeze when you want and quickly store your QuickBreeze when youre done. You will NOT need tools to install this product. You may need pliers to remove your old aerator.

Customer Review :

Great Alternative to WaterPik!

I have used a WaterPik daily for many years, and hesitate to travel without it, but the WaterPik is cumbersome to bring on a trip. I was attracted to this product because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The QuickBreeze lives up to its good reviews, and is a great alternative to the WaterPik. The faucet adapter installs easily, and once that is installed, the QuickBreeze can be quickly snapped on when you go to use it and then snapped off and put away. For travel, you have to bring the faucet adapter with you, but we had no problem quickly installing it at my parents' house or at a hotel, and it certainly was easier than carting a WaterPik around!

It does take some practice to get used to regulating the water pressure and temperature with the QuickBreeze, but it seems to work just as well as the WaterPik. The QuickBreeze says the adaptor fits all standard U.S. faucets -- I wonder what I will do if we travel outside of the U.S.?

The QuickBreeze seems to be very well made -- I would guess that it will last a lot longer than my WaterPiks do!

Like the idea of attaching it to the sink. I find it difficult to get the right angle to flush my teeth because the tubing in not flexible enough.

irrigator

I like this product. I use it at home otherwise when I travel I use the Panasonic battery operated irrigator. The Quick Breeze water jet is a bit different than the Panasonic which is what I used previously. The Pany has bursts or pulses of water jets where as the QB is one continuous flow of spicket water, highly concentrated though - I guess more like the water rinse you get at the Dentist's office.

What a simple, well-made tool for dental care! You don't find many companies today that design and sell products that are so simple and functional. This fits in with my Hunter fan, Kitchen aide Mixer, Kirby Vacuum and my Honda. Thank you Quick Breeze, and good riddence to my water pic!

Quickbreeze irrigator

After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to go with this item. I'm very happy I did because it works exactly as others described it in their reviews. The only problem is that you have to be sure your faucet will fit the adaptors. Unfortunately, my bathroom sink doesn't work with it, so I have to clean my mouth in the kitchen sink. It makes it inconvenient, but I'm totally satisfied with how the product works. And the portability is another great feature. I'm considering buying the shower irrigator so that I can use it in my bathroom for the future. I'm sure it will be just as good as the QuickBreeze product. J

Questions & Answers
Question : Has anyone ever suffered damage to their teeth caused by using a battery-powered toothbrush?
Has anyone ever suffered damage to their teeth caused by using a battery-powered toothbrush?

Answer:
Yes!! overused mine, took enamel off teeth, dont use whitening toothpaste wth them either! have had more fillings since using mine!!!! beware!

Question : Do you think I'm entitled to a refund on a battery powered toothbrush I bought from Tesco?
I bought one and in order for it to function, I had to open the bottom of the toothbrush (to insert the batteries which were included) with a coin. I and my mum tried every which way we could to get the damn thing open and I nearly dislocated my thumb! I decided to take it back to Customer Service at Tesco and asked them for a refund. I got no reply and she disappeared out the back and I noticed she managed to get it open herself with a coin. I said,"Well, can you close it now and do it again, to make sure". However, whilst she was doing so, the head of the brush touched the dirty desk and phone and I said, "Well, I can't use it now, it’s touched everything”. She said, “But there’s nothing wrong with it”. So, I was left without a refund. What do you think?

Answer:
Stupidity runs rampant in the world today. It’s clear by the responses who the idiots were that gave you thumbs down, Jus Curiuos (who can’t spell), susie x, and Medium Dave. These idiots probably work in customer service too. The very term customer service is to ensure a satisfied customer and a repeat customer.

Question : Is it better to use a manual or battery powered toothbrush?
I have been using a battery powered one for a few years and my dentist says my gumline is getting to high meaning I am brushing too hard, but at the same time I haven't gotten any cavities while using the battery powered toothbrush. When I used the manual toothbrush I had a few more cavities, but my gumline wasn't affected.

Answer:
Yes, a powered brush is much better. The rotations can reach much more than a manual brush. You can brush for 15 mins and not reach as much as 2 mins on a manual brush...I read somewhere. But yes, you do have to use less pressure than w/a reg brush. I had the same problem with my gums, they were taking a beating. Until my dentist taught me how. Let the brush do the work for you. Never, never scrub. When u scrub, even if u don't touch the gums, the vibrations can damage them. Go in tiny circles, gently tickling ur gums, spend a few seconds on each tooth them glide it to the next tooth. You don't have to apply much pressure. Let the brush to the work. If you keep pressing too hard, hold the brush with 3 fingers and glide. Most power brushes work better with less pressure. I use to use Oral b but switched to Sonicare, super soft bristles. It keeps my teeth really white, my doc said don't need teeth bleaching and kept the cavities at bay. But remember, no scrubbing and go gentle!

Question : Hi guys, what is the best powered toothbrush that one can get in the market?
I mean there are tons out in the market, but what do you reckon is the best to get currently. Something that would not only clean, but also help to sort of floss, clean between the teeth, dislodge plaque without damaging the teeth, and prevent plaque build up. My doctor cousin recommended ORAL B SONIC COMPLETE, But when I checked the oral b website they have a latest model called Oral-B® Triumph™ ProfessionalCare™ 9000. Now I am tempted to go with the Triump Professionalcare. Have any of you used any of these models? What do you recommend based on your experience. I am obsessed when it comes to my teeth. In fact my first cavity was a result of over flossing! and not eating sweets. Please help someone who acts like MONK when it comes to his teeth!

Answer:
I know exactly what you mean! I'm the same way about brushing and flossing. The Sonicare by Phillips is the one I've found to be the best. It last for years with out having to replace it, holds a full charge for a week making it great for taking it on vacations without having to take the base. It does an excellent job at cleaning the teeth by using an ultrasonic vibration that works with toothpaste and your saliva gently removing all debris in between and below the gum line. After using it, you really do feel like you just had your teeth professionally cleaned. I should know since I've used and recommended them for the past ten years and I am in dentistry.

Question : Which is better a battery powered toothbrush or a rechargeable toothbrush?
I'm currently looking into battery powered and rechargeable toothbrushes but I'm not sure which is better and which one to go with. I am torn between the oralb vitality and the oral b advanced power 400 series and the oral b cross action power. All of which are battery powered except for the vitality. The vitality brush heads all except for the sonic vitality brushhead fits the oralb advanced power. So my question is which is better, battery powered or rechargeable?

Is power toothbrushes better than mannual toothbrushes?

Answer:
My dentist strongly suggests power brushing.

Question : Is there any different between Battery Power Toothbrush and Plug-in Power Toothbrush?
I had plug-in power tooth brush but it got re-charged too much or something and it broke after using 1 year even though I paid over $100 for it. So, I am thinking to get the one you put batteries in it, do you think it doesn't work as good as plug-in one since they are very cheap? Thanks. I mean *is there any differences*

Answer:
No difference between the 2 in terms of cleaning your teeth. They both get the job done. I used to have a plug-in brush, dunno what happened to it though. Now have a battery operated one, and it works just as well! Just have to replace the battery from time to time, and the brush head every 3 months or when necessary.

Question : How do you know what type of toothbrush is best for you?
With all the different types of toothbrushes out there from manual to power toothbrushes it's hard to tell which one is the best for me. Is there any difference between the two kinds? Also, what does the strength of the toothbrush have to do with its performance, e.g. soft, medium, hard?

Answer:
Generally soft is the best way to go. Hard bristles can irritate your gums and even start to strip off your teeth enamel. Those fancy electric ones are fine, but if you brush properly, there's not much of a difference between those and normal toothbrushes.

Question : Oral-B Cross Action Power Electric Toothbrush?
Ok my toothbrush won't stay off.. like i press down the "Off" portion of the button and it stays off for like a second, but every time I even so much as touch any part of the brush, it turns back on! like when i go to put it in the holder, it turns itself on.. it is really quite annoying.. is there anything I can do? Or should I just buy a different kind of electric toothbrush?

Answer:
Sometimes, dried toothpaste sticks underneath the control switch. Try rinsing it really well in hot water.

Question : Have any of you ladies felt the vibrating power of the Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrush yet?
That baby does things no other vibrator can do.

Answer:
That's why my girlfriend has one under her pillow.
