Questions & Answers
Question : what is the difference between an electric toothbrush and a sonic one ?
Why are sonic toothbrushes better ? What does the sonic bit actually do that a usual electric toothbrush doesn't ?
Answer:
The standard electric toothbrush just mimics the use of your regular toothbrush with the up and down or round and round motion. The Sonicare toothbrush uses a vibration means of pulsation that works with water, toothpaste, and saliva in your mouth that literally vibrates the debris from under the tissue, in between and on the teeth off better than the others. It really does make your teeth feel like you've just had them professionally cleaned! Next time you're at the dentist ask for a demonstration. They are highly recommended in the dental profession.

Question : What has been your experience with your electric toothbrush?
Who is currently using an electric toothbrush that really works. What brand do you use and why is it effective? I have cavity issues and I want to improve my oral health. What are your opinions and experiences? I'm considering between Sonic Care and Hygionic. What do you think?
Answer:
well i have an oral b sonic complete. which is just a sonicare made by a different brand. it is the exact same thing.
i dont know anything about hygionic.
but i know that the oral b sonic complete. and any kind of sonicare toothbrush will do the best job there is. (except for your hygienist-lol)
definitely pick one of those. i feel (from experimenting with different brushes) that brushes using sonic. definitely do a better job than conventional cheap electric brushes.

Question : What's the youngest age to use an electric toothbrush?
I've just bought my first electric toothbrush and think it's fantastic. So much so that I'm thinking of one for the kids too, but I'm concerned they may be too young.
Some of these brushes are on sale with a recommended age of 3+. My children are 4 and 5, but as they're still learning to brush manually, is it wise to stop this process and give them the electric brush? Or should I hold off a few years?
Answer:
id say about 13 or when they are going through puberty. when the children are young their teeth are still developing and need to be brushed manually as doing it by hand always wins. Hope i helped <3 groovy_surf_chic99 xxoo

Question : Has anyone ever injured their gums and caused recession with an electric toothbrush?
I bought the Oral-B triumph and all of a sudden experienced irritation at my lower front teeth, and gum recession. I switched to Sonicare and it seems gentler and I haven't had any problems. Anyone else have a similar problem with electric toothbrushes?
Answer:
I'm a dentist.
Generally, dentists and hygienists recommend electric brushes to patients specifically because they are more gentle on the teeth and gums.
Sonicare is an excellent toothbrush. I use it myself and recommend it to my patients (whenever I talk about toothbrushes, that is). Oral-B has a longstanding history of making dental products, and it is very unlikely that they would manufacture a product that wasn't similarly gentle to the gums. You may have been using it wrong.
In either case, as long as you're happy with the Sonicare, stick with it.

Question : Can an electric toothbrush wear down enamel?
From what I hear, gentle brushing is always encouraged , yet with electric toothbrushes I noticed that the bristles are not that soft. It got me wondering that the thousands of rotations per minute could cause even more wearing down of the enamel. I brush my teeth around 6 times a day, and I'm worried.
Answer:
I think it's the brushing 6 times a day that you should be worried about.
Yes, gentle brushing is best and a soft bristled brush is best. There is no "standard" between toothbrush companies when it comes to what "soft" is. Find a brand that works for you.
Electric toothbrushes should be applied with minimal pressure... basically just allowing the bristles to touch the teeth/gums.

Question : Is it ok to use an electric toothbrush if you wear braces?
I want to change my toothbrush ,so i was wondering if an electric toohthbrush is good to use.
Answer:
An electric toothbrush is a great idea to help clean your teeth while in braces. May I recommend a Sonicare or an Rotadent. You can get a Sonicare from your dentist or at your local Wal-mart. A Rotadent you can only get through your dentist.

Question : electric toothbrush?
can anyone tell me how the chager for an electric toothbrush work? its plastic on plastic, where does the charge come from?
Answer:
Induction coils. There is a metal coil inside the toothbrush, and one in the charger. The charger will pass a current along the wire which creates a magnetic field. The field is stong enough for it to 'connect' to the coil inside the toothbrush. Very slowly, it charges up.

Question : How do you prevent an electric toothbrush from discharging in a crowded toilet bag/case when traveling?
Use an Oral B Braun Electric toothbrush which alwsys has the little silver button getting depressed in my toilet case/bag/travel case and always reaches the destination dead!
There is a little reset style button at the back of the brush? Can that be the trick?
Answer:
Wrap it in something soft (Bubble wrap, clothing--a shirt, perhaps) so that there's less pressure on it and that the button is less likely to be pressed.
If that doesn't work, you may want to look into getting a small pencil box that you could fit your toothbrush in. Just put it in, close it, and you're on your way.

Question : How useful is using the power tip with the oral b electric toothbrush?
I floss and brush regularly, but my dental hygenist regularly hands me the tiny internal brushes. I find them hard to use on the inside (gum side) of the teeth.
I noticed that the oral b electric toothbrushes come with a powertip. I wonder if using it is useful in addition to the flossing and brushing.
Answer:
its ok
