Questions & Answers
Question : How long is the wait list for Dental Hygiene in CA?
Preferably, I'd like to know if you currently applied to Dental Hygiene school in California and how long your wait is projected to be. If not currently or not CA, please answer anyway, I'd like to know an average. Any recommendations from graduates and newcomers? I'm barely starting to get my classes completed for my Associates so I can apply next year, any advice is more than appreciated! (Like when to start applying, things to know, etc) Thank you in advanced!!!

Answer:
It would not be an issue of a waiting list but whether or not you would be accepted (high competition -- focused on applicant's GPA.). Best wishes.

Question : I'm currently in the dental hygiene program and have to have 65 patients. How can I find patients?
I am currently in the dental hygiene program at Indiana University NW of Gary, IN, and have to have 65 before graduation. We have to find our own patients. The clinic offers a 50% discount to all college students as well as takes just about any insurance plan. However, I am new to the area and do not know very many people. How can I find patients?

Answer:
my god come to the UK we are in desperate need of dentits! our dentists here can only take on a certain numkber of nhs patients so a lot of ppl are without good dental hygene.... come here u will earn a packet!

Question : Can i get into college for dental hygiene and then after finishing it continue for dentistry?
I was wondering if i could do dental hygiene at first then, if later on i decide to go further then will i be able to continue to become a dentist.

Answer:
Many students do that first. If you decide to continue on to be a dentist, many of your credits can be transferred so that you will not have to retake many of the courses. Good luck, my dear!

Question : Why are there no part time or evening programs in dental hygiene?
I have a full time job as a tech in an animal hospital and have decided to take a career change. Apparently you can't take any dental hygiene programs in the evening or part time. There is simply no room for people with bills to pay. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think I am just ranting as I am a little upset.

Answer:
I think it's due to lack of supply. There probably aren't many professors who teach that subject and chances are, they would rather teach in the daytime. If it were you, would you like to teach a class at 7 or 8pm so that your students could have time to work during the day? Chances are, you wouldn't care about the students schedule, you have had enough life experience and gone through enough bad schedules that you feel you earn the right to do the class when you please. In situations like this, it's usually up to the professor when the class is taught, and not the college. Otherwise, the professor will go somewhere else and the college will be left with no dental hygiene program. The professor doesn't NEED the job, but the college needs the program. Sounds like you'll have to get a night job.

Question : What are your interests in dental hygiene profession?
Hello every one can any one help me here and answer my question with few nice sentences?? I will be thankful if some one helped me and gave me few sentences that explain the interest in dental hygiene profession. thanks

Answer:
I am a dental hygienist and the reasons I love my job are as follows: 1.) I love helping people and working with people every day. 2.) The pay is well... When I decide to start my family, I will be able to work only part time and make a salary that most people make when working full time. 3.) I love working with educated and professional people. Dentists are great people to work with! 4.) I get to wear scrubs every day... Its like going to work in your PJs. :)

Question : Dental Hygiene program- what grades do you/did you have to get in your science prerequisites to get in?
Hopefully someone can answer me... I am trying to apply for the dental hygiene program in various schools in california, and I still have Anatomy (taking it right now), Physiology and Microbiology left. What grades (gpa) did you get on just your science prerequisites to get into the program? I really want this more than anything, but I feel like my grades might not be good enough, since the program is very selective. Any good schools you may recommend to apply to? Bottom line is, do you have to have straight A's to get in? Thank you so much.

Answer:
I went to school in Tucson, AZ where they have the "first come, first serve" system. Meaning, you are going to get in for sure if you get at least a C in your prereq classes, but you have to wait for your turn. The wait is about 1-2 years, which is not bad. The school was pretty good, they get you ready for all the exams. In our class everyone passed the clinical, and only one person failed the National Board (but this person was a HUGE slacker, he only started studying ONE(!!) week before the exam.) Good luck.
