Question : What's the youngest age to use an electric toothbrush?
I've just bought my first electric toothbrush and think it's fantastic. So much so that I'm thinking of one for the kids too, but I'm concerned they may be too young. Some of these brushes are on sale with a recommended age of 3+. My children are 4 and 5, but as they're still learning to brush manually, is it wise to stop this process and give them the electric brush? Or should I hold off a few years?

Answer:
id say about 13 or when they are going through puberty. when the children are young their teeth are still developing and need to be brushed manually as doing it by hand always wins. Hope i helped <3 groovy_surf_chic99 xxoo

Question : Has anyone ever injured their gums and caused recession with an electric toothbrush?
I bought the Oral-B triumph and all of a sudden experienced irritation at my lower front teeth, and gum recession. I switched to Sonicare and it seems gentler and I haven't had any problems. Anyone else have a similar problem with electric toothbrushes?

Answer:
I'm a dentist. Generally, dentists and hygienists recommend electric brushes to patients specifically because they are more gentle on the teeth and gums. Sonicare is an excellent toothbrush. I use it myself and recommend it to my patients (whenever I talk about toothbrushes, that is). Oral-B has a longstanding history of making dental products, and it is very unlikely that they would manufacture a product that wasn't similarly gentle to the gums. You may have been using it wrong. In either case, as long as you're happy with the Sonicare, stick with it.

Question : How do you clean the gunk from an electric toothbrush?
I hope you guys can help me with this since Philips (Sonicare maker) couldn't even properly answer this question. Almost every week, disgusting dark green colored film collects inside the electric toothbrush head. First of all, is this normal? is anyone else having this issue? I have to take a manual toothbrush to scrub out the film. Is this a common occurrence with electric toothbrushes, am I supposed to ignore this gross film and just change the head every 3-4 months? It's getting to be a hassle to have to clean out this film every week!

Answer:
THIS FILM IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE WITH THIS BRUSH. ONCE PER WEEK USE A PAPER TOWEL DAMPENED IN RUBBING ALCOHOL TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE CAP. THIS MAINTENANCE MUST ALSO BE DONE FOR THE RUBBER CONNECTOR OF THE BRUSH HEAD. REMEMBER TO REPLACE THE BRUSH HEAD EVERY THREE MONTHS. I USE THE SONICARE ELITE MODEL.

Question : will i need a special plug, to use my electric toothbrush/shaver in spain?
I know i will need adaptor plugs for other appliances, but my electric toothbrush (same as a electric shaver plug) has a 2 pin plug, will i be able to plug it into the wall in spain?...or will i need a adaptor?,if so what sort of adapter? cheers

Answer:
Both toothbrushes and shavers can be run from a basic 2 pin plug in spanish hotels/houses/apartments. I bought my toothbrush from the UK, it was fitted with a 2 pin plug and works great, our many visitors bring shavers etc., and they have no trouble at all. You can also buy plugs here..............2 pin to 3, and vice versa, but you should'nt have any trouble.

Question : In the last few months I got 4 fillings and 1 root canal. Is it OK to use an electric toothbrush?
Do I need to take any special precautions while brushing with an electric toothbrush? Does the vibration from the bursh cause any damage to fillings? After RCT I had a perm filling instead of cap. Does the electric toothbrush cause any harm to this filling?

Answer:
Your dentist, of course, is your best source of info on this...but when I had several fillings and root canals done, my dentist insisted I use an electric tooth brush...believes it does a much better job of cleaning. And ,I have had much better dental health than ever before since using the electric brush.

Answer:

Question : what is the difference between an electric toothbrush and a sonic one ?
Why are sonic toothbrushes better ? What does the sonic bit actually do that a usual electric toothbrush doesn't ?

Answer:
The standard electric toothbrush just mimics the use of your regular toothbrush with the up and down or round and round motion. The Sonicare toothbrush uses a vibration means of pulsation that works with water, toothpaste, and saliva in your mouth that literally vibrates the debris from under the tissue, in between and on the teeth off better than the others. It really does make your teeth feel like you've just had them professionally cleaned! Next time you're at the dentist ask for a demonstration. They are highly recommended in the dental profession.

Question : Is it ok to use an electric toothbrush if you wear braces?
I want to change my toothbrush ,so i was wondering if an electric toohthbrush is good to use.

Answer:
An electric toothbrush is a great idea to help clean your teeth while in braces. May I recommend a Sonicare or an Rotadent. You can get a Sonicare from your dentist or at your local Wal-mart. A Rotadent you can only get through your dentist.

Question : What electric toothbrush for bridgework?
I have a bridge and a crown. I'd like to get an electric toothbrush but don't know which would be best for my teeth. The work I've had done on them was expensive and I don't want to damage this by purchasing an inappropriate electric toothbrush that might vibrate or brush too fast/hard. What brand/model might be best for me? Thank you.

Answer:
Any of the braun oral b brushes work well. You want to be able to brush the gum/tooth junction well. While you don't want to open beer bottles with your new teeth, you are intended to use these guys. Don't be afraid to brush well and floss around them. If you can pull them off with floss or vibrate them loose with a toothbrush, there is something seriously wrong with the bridge/crown.

Question : What brand of electric toothbrush do you recommend?
My current electric toothbrush has died and I need to buy a new one. I am open to suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Answer:
Braun.
